All new academic staff are strongly encouraged to attend the University of Melbourne's Academic Orientation.

The program provides valuable information and advice on making a successful start to an academic career in a research-led University.

Professor Peter McPhee (Provost) will welcome new staff and provide brief update on key University directions.

Experienced academics offer advice on beginning an academic career at Melbourne. Gain an overview of key policies, procedures and resources to assist you - these include knowing your responsibilities, essential information on teaching and learning, developing and sustaining a research program, and postgraduate supervision.

Academic Orientation is jointly delivered by the Centre for the Study of Higher Education, Human Resources, Melbourne Research Office and the Melbourne School of Graduate Research.
