Vice-Chancellor's Colloquium 2007
The 2007 Vice-Chancellor’s Colloquium ‘Melbourne 2007 -> 2008: Celebrating Inspirational Teaching’, will symbolically mark the transition to the Melbourne Model in 2008. The Colloquium, to be held on Tuesday, December 4, will be an opportunity for the University community to acknowledge the achievements made during 2007 and to celebrate inspirational teaching and teachers.
The Colloquium program features:
- A keynote address: Teaching for Higher Learning: Research-based Strategies to Promote Critical and Creative Thinking by Dr Tom Angelo, Professor of Higher Education, Victoria University of Wellington, New Zealand
- A showcase of this year’s University of Melbourne Teaching Award recipients, who will describe the essence of their personal approaches to teaching and learning
- Recognition of the University’s unprecedented number of winners of national Carrick Awards for Australian University Teaching
- Parallel sessions in which the grantees conducting development and innovation projects funded through the Learning and Teaching Performance Fund share the progress and outcomes of their work
- The launch of a new DVD, Every Voice, which explores English language issues in Higher Education, co-produced by Dr Sophia Arkoudis (Deputy Director, CSHE) and Professor Ian Lang (Head VCA Film and TV).
Meet colleagues over lunch, which will be served between the presentation of awards and the keynote address.
