Award courses for University teachers
The CSHE offers two programs for university teachers -
The Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (GCUT) is primarily designed for academics and teaching staff wishing to develop advanced expertise and leadership skills in university teaching roles.
The Specialist Certificate in Teaching for Graduate Researchers (SCTGR) is a 25-point Specialist Certificate for doctoral candidates at the University of Melbourne who are engaged in teaching activities and who are thinking of an academic teaching career following their PhD. The SCTGR is ideal for those already teaching into coursework degrees. The course introduces theoretical and practical requirements for first time teachers at university level. The SCTGR includes the first two subjects of the Graduate Certificate in University Teaching (GCUT)
The Melbourne Teaching Certificate (MTC) is a non-award program for University of Melbourne staff seeking to develop their skills of university teaching through a cohort-based, single-semester program involving seminars and peer review of teaching.
Orientation for new academic staff
The CSHE facilitates the University's Academic Staff Orientation (ASO). This is normally held in February and July each year.
Other professional development workshops
The CSHE offers professional development workshops for supervisors, teaching and learning forums (e.g. Breakfast seminar series, Innovations in Teaching and Learning seminar series, Teaching Specialist Seminars, Capstone forum (bi-annual event) and sessions specifically for University college tutors).
