The University of Melbourne presents Education, Science and the Future of Australia: A Public Seminar Series on Policy

National Policy and Global Strategy

Monday 25 June 2007, 6.00pm – 8.30pm

National Policy and Global Strategy is the first seminar in the Education, Science and the Future of Australia public seminar series presented by the University of Melbourne.

This opening session lays out the policy challenges facing Australia in education, science and innovation. Two outstanding leaders will share their insights with those at the seminar.

Professor Shih Choon Fong, President of the National University of Singapore heads a university that is operating right at the cutting edge of global knowledge competition in the Asia Pacific.

Mr Terry Moran (AO) as Secretary to the Department of Premier and Cabinet is Victoria's principal policy adviser, the best credentialed government executive in the country on education and training issues, and a determined advocate of more effective state/federal cooperation in education. Together they will shape the issues at global, national and local levels.

Ms Rosa Storelli, Deputy Chancellor of the University of Melbourne and Principal of Methodist Ladies’ College will chair the session.

Light refreshments will be available in the Woodward Centre from 6.00pm – 6.30pm, followed by presentations from the speakers, and a period of discussion and audience participation.
