What makes this course different from others? |
| The course involves a combination of research-based, theoretical seminars and reflective practice, guided by experts in the field of teaching and learning. The GCUT is distinctive in that it relies on close links with your department, involving Department Advisers working with participants to develop individual teaching practice. Other defining characteristics of the course include recognition of the value of the cohort experience, acknowledgement that teaching expertise is built on reflective practice and must be demonstrated, and respect for a diversity of teaching styles. The course is funded centrally. There is no fee charged to the Department or individual. | |
What are the benefits? |
| Previous participants in the GCUT have reported many positive career outcomes, including enhanced knowledge of effective teaching and learning, improved student evaluation scores, increased promotion opportunities, publication in academic journals, success in winning teaching awards and grants for educational research and development. | |

| The course is designed to accommodate and integrate with the work commitments of academics and is only available in part-time mode. The program consists of 4 subjects taken sequentially over 4 semesters within 2 years. Contact hours between subjects vary and classes are usually held in the late afternoon at a regular time slot. Assessment tasks are designed to be useful and relevant to your teaching environment. More information is available from the Course guide. | |
